Perth Scorpions Volleyball Club

New Training Location

The Perth Scorpions Volleyball Club has grown significantly over the last year and continues to grow week on week. To enable us to continue this momentum and to meet the needs of our members, we needed to find a venue which could accommodate three courts for two hours on a regular basis.

After an extensive search of locations across Perth, we’re excited to announce we’ll be relocating to the University of Western Australia (UWA) Sports Recreation Centre effective immediately.

To accommodate our booking, training will move 30 minutes earlier (1:00pm to 3:00pm). Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to complete payment (if required) and prepare to commence at 1:00pm sharp.

Date: Commencing Sunday, 30 January 2022

Location: UWA Recreation Centre, 35 Stirling Hwy Crawley

Time: 1:00pm to 3:00pm Sundays

Parking: Use Campus Car Park 1

  • Enter campus from the north via the Stirling Highway/Winthrop Ave intersection: turn left and immediately right to enter car park 1.

  • Enter campus from the east via Hackett Drive southbound: turn right into UWA, turn right again, and follow the road to the north and around to enter car park 1.

  • Parking should be free in all bays, including yellow (student) and red (staff) bays.

  • Alternatively, many bus routes stop at the north end of the UWA campus. Simply alight and make your way to the Rec Centre.

Winter Season Memberships

Memberships are now open for either Training Only OR Training and Competitive Games. Memberships can be completed via the Perth Scorpions Website by selecting the 'Memberships' and then 'Register'.

Memberships for competitive games are due by Sunday, 20 February to allow for team selections. Winter Season Teams will be announced at Training on Sunday, 6 March.

Some common questions we've received:

Q - Do I have to register if I only come to the occasional training session?

A - Yes. All members are required to register, including attending the occasional training session. This enables us to ensure we have an accurate membership database and manage our operational requirements e.g. Insurance.

Q - Do I have to be registered with Volleyball WA?

A - Yes. Perth Scorpions are affiliated with Volleyball WA and covered by their Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Personal Accident insurance.

To ensure our club is covered, all members will need to have Gold level membership with Volleyball WA to be covered under our Insurance. We will be including this in the Winter Season fees.

Q - Can I register for Tuesday and Thursday night Competitive Games?

A - Yes. We will endeavour to accommodate members who wish to play in both Tuesday and Thursday night competitions subject to final registrations. We have 42 positions available across 4 Tuesday night and 2 Thursday night teams. We will also be setting up a fill-in pool to make it easier for Captains to find substitutes if they do have sufficient numbers on any given week.

Q - I have another question.

A - please feel free to reach out to your committee, and we’ll be happy to help!
