PrideinSports Festival

Perth Scorpions VC is collaborating with PrideinSport to promote participation in sports and support the health and wellbeing of the LGBTQIA+ community. By providing 12 free drop-in beginners skills sessions, we are breaking down barriers of entry and providing safe space to learn a new game with friends.

What to Bring

Volleyball is a very easy game to get started. All you need is a water bottle, enclosed shoes, and clothes you feel comfortable running and jumping in.

What to Expect

Volleyball is a game where two teams hit a ball back and forth over a net (called a rally) until one team scores a point against the other. You cannot hold the ball, only pass it a maximum of three times between players on your court, before sending it over the net. There are three main skills in volleyball, called passing (or digging), setting, and hitting (or spiking).

Over the 12 weeks of this free course, our coaches - many from the LGBTQIA+ community - will teach you these skills one by one. We train in blocks of four weeks for better skills retention - also meaning you don't need to attend all sessions. Perth Scorpions VC stand for diversity, positivity, and inclusion. This means that these classes will be a safe environment where anybody can come to learn a new skill, without judgement.
